A New Halloween Tradition!
Born In The Hills Of Manhattan Beach in 1990, the Halloween Pumpkin Race is now an Official Manhattan Beach event!
Please join us Sunday October 26, 2008 at the Manhattan Pier beginning at 1:00pm for what promises to be the most fun and unusual Halloween event your family has ever experienced. The day long Downtown Halloween Festival and Pumpkin Race will be filled with fun, excitement, surprises, and laughter for all ages.
Everyone is welcome to participate in this unique, one-of-a-kind family fun competition. Build your own Pumpkin RaceCar and enter the Pumpkin Race for free! Or, pickup a pre-carved pumpkin and Pumpkin RaceCar Kit at the event for a $20 dollar donation. Pumpkin RaceCar Kits and entry into the race are on a first come, first served basis. Activity booths, fun and excitement for the entire family will be open from 1:00pm – 6:30pm. See the event site map for location of activity booths and race track.
Your support of this event will enhance community programs in the areas of youth education & fitness, creativity & ingenuity, family & teen resources, and the coastal environment. All net proceeds from this event will be donated to local non-profit organizations including MBEF, Friendship Circle, and The Surfrider Foundation.
A note to families with special needs: The Friendship Circle and the Mira Costa Friendship Circle Club will provide a caring environment staffed with trained volunteers to help you build a Pumpkin RaceCar and enter the race. Click here for more information.
The Halloween Pumpkin Race was started as a small neighborhood event on 8th Street in 1990, and has during its rich history grown in size to include hundreds of participants and cheering onlookers each year. Be sure to check out the video gallery and photo gallery!
